[[preprinted]] [[double line]] Monday, January 6, 1908 [[line]] [[/preprinted]] [[handwritten]] Well, I didn't do much today, strange as it may seem. Usually I rush from one end of the day to the other, but today was calm. I went over to Bunnie's in the morning and then whacked off a cable to Mr. Jones at Portsaid. Then I had a beautiful nap in the afternoon, and riz at four to make a couple calls. This is cert'n'y a hard life. Found I'd caught Mr. Jones all right, for I got a cable back in the evening. Bunnie was respectfully declined. It will do him good. I forget what was doing, but anyway it must have been something tremenjous [[sic]]. We called it off at four, and took a drive down to the point. Would that I had the space to dwell upon the ^beauties ^of that lovely road, - the stately plains and the flowered fields, the [[strikethrough]] [[?]] [[/strikethrough]] gentle kine by the roadside, and the simple peasantry that grace the little ^pure-white dwellings that lie scattered through one's vision. I think I'll have another pill, Chonk. [[handwritten]]
