Tried hard to find a little work to do today, but wasn't very successful. Business has been slow lately. I have only a rotten little shipment of twelve tusks to go on the "Windhuk", and they're not first class, by any means. Inshallah, the auction will give us a good shipment on the 4th.

Went out to the Sports Club for the first time in years, and won my first love set in Mombasa. Would have congratulated Irene only I needed a shave badly.

Very dull today. We didn't do a thing but go over to the Club before dinner and lose forty three points. Cheer up, with luck we can lose some more before the month is out.

My gawd, I almost forgot to mention we sold 200 bales today! After months of idleness in that line, it seemed too wonderful to believe.
