Bloody hot down in Maala today. I was down at Hedjutt, too, about that Mombasa shipment. Old Benine beat it today, and on the way back we met 'em as they came along. First there was Benine & Selim in he big gharri, and then following, spread out all over and sticking out from about a dozen gharris were all his sisters and his cousins and his aunts, and kids and grandkids, and possibly grand-grandkids.

"Ayah", says Seyed, "Inshallah ma yarga. Inshallah y'roch Jehannum."

Adolphe had an extra bid to the show down at the Garrison Opry House tonight, so I went along with him and the Mlles. Germaine and Yvonne. At the last moment their big gharri was out of comish, so I had to ride down and back alone with Adolphe. He's a nice chap, but there are so many fellows out here, and so few young French ladies!

Well, the show was one o' them Pierot affairs, and there were two rather good fellows in it. A couple of the songs were good, and others were whiskers. But it passed away the time.
