Prices took a soar of nearly a dib the other day, and in today's auction they were strong at another half-dib higher. Joseph says he isn't interested, but he'll be buying soon, all right. Jo and I called on the Mau's this afternoon, and then dropped our pasteboards further along, with a sigh of relief to find the others were out. Calls are not my game. I'm a damned hermit, anyway. [[end page]] [[start page]] [[preprinted]] Tuesday, October 18, 1910 [[/preprinted]] The mpishi is up at Weddell's tonight, doing stunts in honor of Eddie, King of Zanzibar. It must be a hell of a strain to entertain Royalty, or even to sit at the same table with 'em. But W. has had some practise in the inner circles of effete Europe, so I suppose a little thing like an Oriental Potentate doesn't bother him such an awful pile. Well, I can vouch for old Creepin' J., anyway.
