Went out to the Mnazi Moja for a little exercise. Five sets of singles is that, too. That pretty boy Phillips licked me four sets to one, but got only 25 games to my 21. So it was closer than the sets would indicate. 

Oh, but I do hate this burg! It seemed, when I was out there this afternoon, that I'd never been away from the place, and I wondered to myself if I could ever have the nerve to live in Mombasa again, under any circumstances. Zanzibar looks, and is, a paradise to this place,- Aden doesn't look, but is too.

I'm writing this on the 10th, but anyway, this morning I had another attack in my back, which keeled me over some. 

Radford diagnosed it as a probably stone in my kidney, and if it is, it means trouble ahead, and a less-pleasant summer than I had anticipated. 

Inshallah, it won't turn out badly.
