I got a nice note from [[underline]] Miss Peters [[/underline]] this morning thanking me for the "lovely pen and pencil set" for Christmas! Evidently Earl Bill gave it to her and included my name with his. This posed a problem about the pin but I decided to give that to her anyhow as my own 100% present.

Art and I literally spent the entire day with Major McLeod, Capt. Baldwin and Capt. Harris lining up the [[underline]] G.E. schedule [[/underline]] - something that I have been trying to do for a couple of months. At least, I'm thankful to get it done before leaving.

[[underline]] Ed and Charlie [[/underline]] had a long session with [[underline]] ODT [[/underline]] today and came back much disgusted. ODT has chosen to take a big cut in domestic locomotive production for the sake of giving [[underline]] the railroads individually what designs they want [[/underline]] - in other words, they threw out the window all ideas of locomotive standardization that Ed and Charlie have been promulgating and in effect, have chosen a [[underline]] "business as usual" [[/underline]] policy involving tailor made jobs for each operator. Ed feels that there is little need of his remaining here if such a policy is adopted because there is nothing much for him to do. It may result in his eventual resignation.

^[[red x]] Jack Hogrett called Charlie today and wanted to line up a farewell party for me tonight - he was tight when he called. I told Charlie to squelch it someway because I didn't want to get involved in any brawl tonight. Charlie turned the job of calling Jack, over to Vic who called him and said he was so drunk he couldn't even give him the message. I predict a bad end for Jack; he can't keep this up for long without following in Earl Heath's footsteps; Earl's divorce trial was last week and I guess his wife will win it all right. Apparently [[underline]] Earl [[/underline]] is breaking up completely and will be a case for a [[underline]] sanitarium again [[/underline]] soon. At 10:15 PM.
