5 East 57th Street
New York 22, N.Y.

Dear Mr. Sligmann:

One of our Branch Officers called me on the 'phone the other day and informed me that he had sent some persons down to your gallery to view the picture, "Virgin and Child" which you are exhibiting. The customer apparently attempted to see the picture but was informed that it would be impossible for him to see it at that time, which I believe was around the lunch hour, and he was also told that the picture was up in the balcony and could only be seen by appointment. The customer went away without ever having viewed the picture.

Mr. Black, our Branch Officer, felt rather badly about the matter because he told our customer to go down and look at the picture. Will you be kind enough to let me know just how the exhibition of this picture is conducted and isn't it possible for us to make some arrangement so that prospect purchasers whom we happen to find could see the picture as soon as they want to do so? Any information you can give me on this subject will be appreciated.

Very truly yours,
