April 22nd., 1949

Dear Arthur:

Your letter of April 14th., written from Eden Roc, duly reached me through the kindness of Mr. Kopald, and I do want to tell you that I consider the idea of sending the paintings to the Fogg Museum indeed an excellent one. Their Department of Conservation and Restoration is staffed with very fine technicians, whose skill I have had the privilege of experiencing. I thus think that your two paintings could not be in better hands.

I have also discussed the matter of the vault with Mr. Kopald and in view of these plans I trust he will have been able to make [[strikethrough]] the [[/strikethrough]] a satisfactory arrangement with the warehouse, thus avoiding a double handling of these paintings, which, in itself, is an expensive proposition, as the skilled labor employed by the warehouse receives very high pay.

Your telephone number has been carefully noted, and I am looking forward to seeing you in Paris. It may not be until the end of May or beginning of June, as I may have to go to London for a few days shortly after my arrival in Paris, which I have postponed.

I am just writing you this so that you will not be surprised if I do not communicate with you as early as I expected previously.

On the other hand, should there be some particular reason that you would wish to reach me, my brother, Francois-Gerard, will always know of my whereabouts. (his office is at 23 Place Vendome)

With kind regards,

Sincerely yours,

(Germain Seligman)
