April 13, 1953

Dear Mr. Baderou:

On April , I sent to Mr. Lefebvre-Foinet a check of 150,000 francs (One hundred and fifty thousand francs) in full payment of the purchase I made from you of the painting by Claude Vignon.

Please thus communicate with him asking him to rush the different formalities, so that the check can be turned over to you.

As it is made out in francs, purchased against dollars here in New York, you should obtain immediate payment.

In this connection would you be good enough also to tell Lefebvre-Foinet that I have had no news yet as regards the small painting of "Ulysse tuant les Pretendents" which is really incredible.

Now, may I call your attention to the fact that I have no yet received your invoice in connection with the Claude Vignon, and may I remind you of your kind promise of sending me the different documents in connection therewith.

Among them as you know, I am particularly anxious to have the article by Charles Sterling on "Claude Vignon, Precursor of Rembrandt".

Now, as regards the "Ulysse tuant les Pretendents", looking over the small note you gave me when I last saw you, I notice that you mentioned that in the Carnet de Croquis de Gericault (Louvre Inv. R.F. 6072) one frinds certain elements close to those of the painting (see also the composition on page 24).

Could you ask somebody to have photographs made of these at my expense of course, and have them sent to me.

Realizing that you might not have the necessary time to attend to this, could you ask the person to charge me also for his time, so that we can have it taken care of.

Also you remember that we talked about the possibility of the La Hyre drawing "The Bishop visiting people afflicted by the Pest", as a preliminary sketch to a Mai painting. Do you think you could find further date on this.

Looking forward to hearing from you, and with best regards,

Sincerely yours,

(Germain Seligman)
