January 6, 1955

Dear Mr. Baderou:

Your letter of December 30, 1954, has just arrived, and I appreciate the spirit which prompted you to write as you did. I fully realize that one cannot lay too much stress on the opinion of so-called specialists in our field of art, and may I suggest that you send me a photograph of the Gros drawing you mention.

You ask me whether your visit to Mr. Catroux is an urgent one. In view of the fact that this painting is to be included in an auction in the near future, I would say that the sooner you will be able to call on him and give him all the necessary information, the better it will be, for--and you will readily understand--once he has made up his catalogue, he will be, indeed, reluctant to alter it. You know how lazy people are on the whole. Thus I would be obliged to you were you to give this matter your attention at your earliest convenience, and [[underline]] please do post me about the results of your conversation with him[[/underline]].

May I also remind you of the very important matter of the Chevrier collection.

In turn let me renew all my good wishes to your dear wife and to you for a very prosperous 1955, and may it keep you two in good health. With best regards,

Sincerely yours,

Germain Seligman
