Dear Mr. Pulitzer:

This is just to inquire whether you contemplate being in New York in the near future, and should you be planning this journey, do put me on your list of galleries to visit.

I have namely just purchased a painting by ROUAULT, coming straight from France, of the utmost beauty and quality.

I remember well the two you exhibited at the museum of Modern Art in their Rouault exhibition of several years ago; the majestiv one of the three clowns, and the other of "Pierrot". Mine is entirely different, and the size of your three clowns.

All I can say is that it is doubtless one of his greatest paintings. Purposely I am not sending you a photograph, as it gives truly no idea of the paintings.

Trusting you are well, and with best regards,

Sincerely yours,

(Germain Seligman)
