My dear Mr. Warner: Quite a number of months has elapsed since I had the pleasure of seeing or hearing from you and on reading over your last letter, I [[strikethrough]] saw [[/strikethrough]] see that you were planning to go to France and were putting off buying any French paintings until that time. I am wondering if you have come up against the same difficulties that I did this year, as well as last year. The prices were terribly high, the difficulties to export [[strikethrough]] were [/strikethrough]] considerable, [[strikethrough]] and w [[/strikethrough]] outside of very few purchases that I was able to make under unexpectedly good terms,[[strikethrough]] I will not [[/strikethrough]] I could not conclude any transactions, and from now on, I won't buy anything over there until conditions become greatly improved. While this was going on, I had great luck (over) here, [[strikethrough]] and I am wondering whether it would be possible for you to come and see some of the [[/strikethrough]] in acquiring recently in especially good condition some paintings and drawings. [[Strikethrough]] recently acquired, some of them in exceptionally good condition. [[/strikethrough]] I would be glad if you would care to take advantage of this opportunity.
