Dear Junior,

I have just written a few lines to Dorette thanking you both for the very enjoyable weekend at your place and now, I am sending you this letter to remind you of the various changes I would suggest in your main room:

1. - Have mantelpiece antiqued, although I really think that later on you should have a real fine Gothic mantel there.

2. - Italian Majolica plates and vases to go on mantelpiece; preferably Urbino on account of their color.

3. - Eliminate entirely the candelabra on either side of the mantel, placing the two that are now there at the other end of the room, either side of the tapestry, and one of those that are now either side of the tapestry on the left side of the mantel, but to the [[underlined]] left [[/underlined]] of the cabinet. The other one could be placed in the middle of the wall opposite where your portrait now hangs. The candelabra you now have there you could easily place somewhere else. As I explained to you I think it absolutely essential that you have no candelabra near your portrait, but on the other hand, you must have a reflector placed over your picture.

4. - A hanging of a reddish tone to go over the balustrade, above the alcove leading to the library. I would suggest that the greater part of the balustrade be covered with whatever material you put there and you should likewise have a red covering, either velvet or brocade over the table opposite the window to the right of your portrait, also on the large table in the middle of the room, and likewise on the table opposite the window on the left of the entrance as you come into the room. Then, eventually, you should have a pair of pictures either side of the windows to the right of your portrait, another one on the vacant wall almost opposite where the ROYBET was previously hanging and one also on the wall just to the left of the door as you come in, and of course one on the
