Mr.René Seligman,
705 Fifth Avenue,
New York, N.Y.

Dear René

The sample of wood shows a piece of Butternut with four different shades of finishing in Oak. To procure any of these effects it will first be necessary to wash off woodwork, bringing it back to its natural state.

with oil paint then varnish then wax

The walls should then be stained. The color of the stain mixed so as to produce the shade desired. After the stain has dried, give walls a coat of varnish, after which the walls should be rubbed and waxed.

Very truly yours,
Mattui Beebe
