Dear Walter:

I wish to take this opportunity to thank you most heartily on behalf of my firm for the more than generous cooperation you have given us in lending four pictures from your collection for our forthcoming Picasso Exhibition, November 1st to 20th. I am also very grateful for the efforts you are making to secure these pictures from the Detroit Institute in time for the opening of the exhibition.

As I told you the other day, we should like to have these pictures not later than Thursday, October 28th, so as to allow ample time for hanging and arranging the exhibition.

Confirming my telephone call this morning, we would like to have your "Tete Negre", large "Mother and Child", "Femme aux Poires", and the pastel drawing "Study of a Hand"; numbers 2, 9, 11, and 115 of the catalogue issued by the Detroit Institute. As this catalogue is very complete, I will take all the information regarding the pictures from it. However, in case there are any changes or additions which you wish to make, I am enclosing, for formality's sake, four blanks which you can have your secretary fill out accordingly. On the bottom you will see a space regarding insurance. If any of your pictures are automatically insured under your existing policy, it would, of course, facilitate matters tremendously. On the other hand, if not, will you kindly note the valuation, and I will confirm to you in writing that they will be insured under our all risk policy.

As you instructed, the paintings will be returned to your office upon the close of the exhibition.

I should appreciate having, at your earliest convenience, two photographs of each picture; one for the catalogue, and the other as a spare for publicity, etc.
