November 9, 1933.

Dear Mr. Mellon:

About two weeks before I left Paris I had an opportunity to show my friend Mr. Rousseau two extremely fine paintings. Mr. Rousseau was so much impressed by them that he told me that he would write to you.

I just learned that you are in town and not knowing if the letter of Mr. Rousseau has already reached you or not, I thought of asking you if I could have an opportunity to call on you to bring you the photographs and documents of these two paintings. One is an outstanding portrait by MANTEGNA, and the other is an extremely fine painting by GIOTTO.

These pictures are completely unknown in this country; we have not offered them to any of our clients as yet. However, they are well known by some of the art critics to whom we have shown them.
