Dear Mr. Pitcairn:

I am in touch with an art patron who is interested in securing an important Rembrandt painting. The ones he has seen so far and which are for sale, do not seem to appeal to him particularly and I therefore thought of your portrait.

Should you still consider parting with it, would you be kind enough to let me have a good photograph. By the same token, I would like to know whether it is signed and dated and what bibliographical data you possess on it, as looking through the W. R. Valentiner work on "Rembrandt Paintings in America" I find no mention of your's.

Looking forward to hearing from you,

Yours very sincerely,

(Germain Séligmann)
