Oct. 12th, 1943

Messrs. Jacques Seligmann & Co., Inc.,
5, East 57th Street, New York (22).

Gentlemen,

In the absence of the principal Trustee, your letter of Sept. 13th has been handed tome as Keeper of the Collection.

I have no reason to believe that the Trustees contemplate parting with any of the pictures, whether those in the United States or those remaining here. At the same time, I imagine that if any particularly advantageous offer were made for any individual picture, they would regard it as part of their duty as Trustees to give it their consideration.

If your clients are prepared to make such an offer, your enquiry should be addressed to

Colonel D.S.Jackling,
Focklesbrook,
Chobham, near Woking,
Surrey.

Yours very truly,
[[signature - S.C. Kaines Smith]]
Keeper.
