though they reveal little the naked eye does not discern.

A few years ago I broached the subject of this painting to the late Mr. S. S. Pichetto, who for reasons of other purchases then being considered by the Foundation, advised me to postpone making this proposal.

Thus, quite recently, we took up the matter anew, and to satisfy himself Mr. Pichetto had further ultra-violet photographs taken. It was his thought then that the time had come when I should formally write to the trustees on this topic.

The selling price of this painting is $150,000 (One hundred and fifty thousand 00/100 dollars).

Should you be interested to the extent of wishing to see the further documents, and which in view of their unique character (such as colored photographs, xrays, ultra-violet, and infra-red etc.) I have not included in the accompanying pamphlet, I would of course be only too glad to send them on.

Yours very sincerely,

(Germain Seligman)
