Dear Mary:

Herewith you will find a photostat showing the marble statue "Virgin and Child" of the XIV century as it was in the Chapel of the Chateau de Sassangy (Seine et Loire).

You will notice if you compare it with the photograph of the statue as it is at present that the arms of the Christ child, the lily and the colored glass insets are missing, evidently restorations and additions of a later period which were most probably removed by Dr. Simon Meller when he acquired this sculpture.

Furthermore, according to my notes, the head of the child was broken, as well as three leaves of the crown.

This document which should have been in your hands long ago will complete your file.

I enjoyed our luncheon so very much and I am looking forward to seeing you soon again.

With best regards,

Sincerely yours,

Germain Seligman
