Dear Mr. Emerson:

The hours spent with you yesterday afternoon at the National Gallery were truly exhilarating and inspiring.

However, the purpose of these lines is to thank you and to let you know how much I appreciated your giving me all of your time. It was indeed a gesture which touched me much. Also it gave me the opportunity to confirm the impression I have had right-along of how deeply you personally react to the beauty of such masterpieces, for it was a give-away.

With renewed thanks for the opportunity thus granted me, andwith personal regards,

Sincerely yours,

Germain Seligman
