1931 [[image - drawing of a wildcat]] Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Founded at Howard University, 1908 Seventy-three Chapters Established at Wiley, 1924 PHI CHAPTER Phi Chapter was established on the Wiley College campus in 1924 with the following young ladies as charter members: Artie Ruth Cavil Louise Graham Juanita McGaffey Ruth Grimstead Ruth Lewis Lola Rhambo Blanche Dogan Corrie Regan Johnella Patton Katherine Jones Ruth Mitchell Olive M. Durden Annie Lee Lacy During the seven years of its existence, Phi Chapter has been in keeping with the maintaining of the ideals and principles of Alpha Kappa Alpha and is doing her part to foster well its program. Because it stands for high ethical and moral standards, noble character, and scholarship Phi is ever on the alert to help and to encourage those who are in need. Each year this chapter awards a scholarship of seventy-five dollars to the young woman in the college (not an Alpha Kappa Alpha woman) who maintains the highest scholastic average during the year.
