I.L. Green. damage by [[?]] down grain in [[feeding on water grass?]] Has been in business 5 yrs. Has man tending blackbirds constantly. Thinks shooting preferable to [[?]] with special license to rice growers
Ducks working in rice now

C.A. Lindberg. Wants privelege of shooting birds out. Little trouble last year. Birds work out from open fields when grain is in milk, squeeze rice & then [[?]] up.

8000-10,000 Sprig coming in on ground east of Butte Creek. Greenhead & Field & [[Tule?]] gun club grounds Birds came in from north in long lines.

H.C. Baber rice below Marysville. No trouble from birds as yet. Says they should ot work in grain for three weeks yet. Does not believe that ducks eat rice in milk. Birds will not light in heavy rice but come in on open pools.

Man with him said birds got six or eight acres last year. Said that birds do damage by lighting in and then sliding along in water as they break their momentum.

1200 Pintail in one pond.
Mallards & Sprig scattered thru lower end of J. Kings Rice. Rive Very thin and poor not head. More grass than rice all through [[checks whole simply pond?]] with open growth of vegetation. No indication of trampling by birds. Duck sign all along chicks. Sprig & Mallard shot had no rice in stomachs full of grass seeds.
