REPORT OF THE NATIONAL COLLECTION OF FINE ARTS

1979

The following were elected as officers for 1980:

Mr. George B. Tatum, Chairman
Mrs. Hiram W. McKee, Vice Chairman
Mr. S. Dillon Ripley, Secretary

The following new members, appointed by the Board of Regents in January 1979, attended their first meeting in May:

Mrs. Nan Tucker McEvoy
Mrs. John Farr Simmons

Mr. Mitch Wilder died on April 1, 1979. A memorial was read by Charles Sawyer at the May meeting.

It was recommended the following be appointed by the Board of Regents to the NCFA Commission:

Mrs. Oliver Seth
Mr. Philip Pearlstein
Mrs. Charles Bagley Wright, Jr.
Mr. Richard H. Hunt
Mr. Donald Bernard Anderson

The Commission voted not to reappoint Mr. Otto Wittmann for another term due to his lack of attendance.

The following amendment to the Bylaws was approved by the Commission:

RESOLVED this 6th day of December 1979, that Section I. 2. of the Bylaws be amended to read as follows:

This Commission is to consist of up to 24 members, including artists and experts as well as interested citizens, who shall be appointed by the Board of Regents. They shall hold office for four years and shall be eligible for reelection. [[underlined]] The Commission, in the event of unexcused absences of three or more consecutive meetings may recommend the termination of that member's term of office before the end of term. [[/underlined]] The Secretary of the Smithsonian Institution shall be an ex-officio member of the Commission. The Director of the Hirshhorn Museum shall be an ex-officio non-voting member of the Commission.
