[[underline]] Report of the National Portrait Gallery Commission [[/underline]]

Mr. Blitzer reported that the members of the National Portrait Gallery Commission, at their meeting on January 22, 1980, unanimously recommended the appointment of the Honorable Robert B. Morgan and Mr. Thomas Mellon Evans to the Commission. The terms for the new Commissioners would run until 1986 and 1984, respectively.

The following resolution was approved by the Regents:

VOTED that the Board of Regents appoints to the Commission of the National Portrait Gallery the Honorable Robert B. Morgan for a full six-year term and Mr. Thomas Mellon Evans to fill the four years remaining in the unexpired term of John Nicholas Brown.

Appended to these minutes (see Appendix B) is a listing of the portraits approved by the National Portrait Gallery Commission at its last two meetings for acquisition by the Portrait Gallery. As with the foregoing report from the National Collection of Fine Arts Commission, the Secretary will study the statutory provisions and recommend alternative means of handling this annual report.

The Regents adopted the following resolution:

VOTED that the Board of Regents approves the actions of the National Portrait Gallery Commission at its meetings on April 25, 1979 and January 22, 1980.
