[[underlined]] Appointment of David C. Acheson [[/underlined]]

H. J. Res. 615, providing for the appointment of David C. Acheson to the Board of Regents for the statutory term of six years, was approved by the House on October 1 and by the Senate on December 11. It was signed by the President on December 22, 1980 (Public Law 96-563).

[[underlined]] International Exchange Service [[/underlined]]

No action was taken by the Senate on H. R. 7302, legislation providing for the transfer from the Smithsonian Institution to the Superintendent of Documents of the function of exchanging U. S. Government publications with governments abroad. The measure had been passed by the House on June third. It is anticipated that the legislation will be reintroduced in the 97th Congress.

[[underlined]] Meserve Collection [[/underlined]]

No action was taken on proposed legislation for the relief of the estate of Dorothy Meserve Kundhardt. This would enable the National Portrait Gallery to acquire a significant collection of historic American photographic works and will be introduced in the new Congress, as authorized by the Regents at their September 1980 meeting.

[[underlined]] South Quadrangle Construction Authority [[/underlined]]

Legislation to provide Quadrangle construction authority, approved by the Regents in September but not introduced in the 96th Congress, will be introduced in the new Congress.
