[[expe]]rienced by any during the winter. We intended to have moved camp this morning but owing to the intense cold did not. We suppose it 50 [degree symbol]] minus as we had some Cognac Brandy frozen in the tent. Illia came up and stopped all night with us. Sunday 24th Still intensely cold. Found the brandy frozen again and drank it up to keep it from getting weak. All complained bitterly of cold and loss of sleep. Mr. Colburn froze his nose while getting wood this morning. Illia returned home this morning. My fingers while making notes in my book are nearly freezing. Monday 25th Colder than yesterday - None of us slept last night. While eating breakfast around a great campfire we had to change our tin cups from hand to hand to keep them from freezing. We concluded we had all seen enough of this kind of fun and as our provisions were nearly exhausted, we concluded to evacuate camp No. 3. and find more comfortable quarters at the Station. We packed what we could not carry with us in the tents, taking with us two days rations, about that much was left. We fastened on our Snow Shoes and struck out for the station 20 miles distant, each one conveying some portion of the provisions. We arrived at the station at 3 P.M. rather a used up set, having slept
