[[underlined]]Five Year Prospectus, FY 1984-88[[/underlined]]

Mr. Ripley commented that at a recent hearing on the proposed fiscal year 1984 appropriate budget officials form the Office Management and Budget expressed their pleasures with the Five-Year prospectus and congratulated Smithsonian management.

Dr. Gell-Mann noted that only brief mention had been made for archaeometric research plans and he hoped that section will be expanded. Thee Regents were encouraged to give the draft Prospectus critical review in an effort to refine it for adoption at the January 1983 meeting of the Board.

The following report was circulated in advance. The draft, distributed at the meeting, is appended to these minutes.
