It is expected that a contract for collection storage equipment first phase procurement will be awarded soon. Planning for occupancy and operation has begun and some staff recruitment has occurred. In addition to the $960,000 appropriated in FY 1982 for Quadrangle planning and design, an amount of $36,500,000 is included in the FY 1983 budget request and represents the full half-share of appropriated funding estimated for construction. Presently, the architect has completed about 50% of the working drawing design phase, and the Institution expects to present the project to the Commission of Fine Arts in September and the National Capital
