[[underlinedd]] Quadrangle Construction Authority [[/underline]]

P.L. 97-203, authorizing construction of the Quadrangle and an appropriation of $36.5 million, was signed by the President on June 24, 1982. 

The Senate Committee on Rules and Administration held a hearing on s. 2102 on April 20. It reported the bill with an amendment relating to the availability of non-Federal construction funds on May 26. The Senate considered and passed the bill on June ninth. 

The Subcommittee on Public Buildings and Grounds of the House Committee on Public Works and Transportation held a hearing on a companion measure, H.R. 5659, on April 27. The full Committee reported the bill with technical amendments on May 17. The House approved the bill on June third with an additional amendment incorporating the Senate committee language on non-Federal funds. 

[[underlined]] Adjusting Rates of Interest [[/underlined]]

On April 21 Messrs. Boland, Mineta, and Conte introduced H.R. 6132, a bill to adjust the rate of interest paid on funds of the Smithsonian Institution deposited with the Treasury as a permanent loan. The Committee on House Administration approved it with technical amendments at a meeting on May fifth and filed its report the following day. The House passed the measure on May tenth.
