you know that Rev. Hamilton whom you got removed from the Omaha Mission, has been reinstated, & that he devoted his first sermon to a criticism of you, which made most of the Indians get up & walk out of meeting, the Crows being especially indignant. That was a good manly proceeding on their part. Susette wrote me about it, with evident approval of the Indian indignation. incur Hamilton's enmity: so she went, & Hamilton took that opportunity to talk to her & tell her how glad he was that she was on [[underlined]] his [[/underlined]] side, & not her father's, for her father was working with the Devil against him (Hamilton). 

Poor little Susan controlled her rage, & answered never a word, because Hamilton is an old man. But what an outrageous thing it is, to have such a man for a missionary to Indians!!
