Dear Friend:
I am going to ask you one thing but I don't want the Indians to feel troubled about it.  About the lands down on the bottoms near the river I wish to say what I think about it.  I think all that portion should be left as unallotted land, and then people can get wood whenever they want it, it ought to serve as a wood district.  A part I believe is to be used as pastures.  As long as you and I live I hope we will not let the Indians be troubled about any thing
