So, I had Harry Hays - who is a plain writer - get the M.S.S. Joel had, and copy it for you. When he finished, near the last of Feb. - and brought it to me. I found that the M.S.S. vocab did not go beyond "H", So, of course, it was not ready to be printed, and we had no time to add more to it now -- It was so near the time for your return to Lapwai. I thought we went through the Alphabet when James Hayes & I wrote the Vocab. 6 years ago or more - some words at least: to every letter. But it may be we did not - or the rest of it may have been lost; so many have had the M.S.S. in their homes copying it. At all events we have only a part of a Vocab - which it would not pay to publish (unless Miss Fletcher thinks differently - she shall decide.) But it can be used in the larger Dic (D.V)
[[underline]] Thank you [[/underline]] and [[underline]] Miss Gay so much [[/underline]] for the [[underline]] beautiful [[/underline]]

[[underline]] pictures,[[/underline]] which reached me safely. They are just perfect; and the very ones I wanted - only, I want, besides a picture (or pictures) which include the two dear friends Miss Fletcher and Miss Gay in the view. (They are in one of the Washington pictures I saw and in one of the little cottages at Kamiah.)I want to have their [[underline]] faces [[underline]] to look into in the days to come. D.V. when they are far away & even if I have very good photos of both - invisable save to Miss McB -; but I want the others too.
I waited so [[underline]] longingly [[/underline]] for the last Report of the Commissioner of Indian Affairs. But it has never reached me. And I never wanted a Report so much in my life I think, as I want that one - There are some things in it I [[underline]] need [[/underline]] to see for the sake of my work. The Commissioner last [[indeciperable strikeout]] wrote that he had ordered a copy sent me. But just about that time he left W. to visit the Indian Agencies, and was absent so long. The book may never have been sent, or misdirected & lost on the road
