Miss Alice C. Fletcher,
Lewiston, Idaho.

Dear Miss Fletcher:-

I enclose letter received from Mr. Buel Assistant Editor of the Century Magazine relating to your fifth paper. I have written to him that I had sent his letter to you and that you would write him direct and on your return east, which I supposed would be in a month or six weeks, you would have the opportunity to go over the paper in a quiet way and see if there were any gaps which needed filling in. It may perhaps be well to enlarge it and make two articles of it; or, otherwise fix it up. You can see by the tone of Mr. Buel's letter that the paper is appreciated, fully, but that he is desirous that the subject should be treated a little more extensively.

I have not time to write more as I leave for Chicago tomorrow and shall be there until the first of October. My address there will be Care of Dr. Thomas Whitfield, Wabash Avenue, in case you have occasion to write to me.

We had a good meeting in Washington and your paper was read by Mrs. Barus and was well received. The Indian map is very interesting
