My dear Miss Fletcher:-

Your favor of May 8th is before me. In writing you, I was acting under the direction of Mr. E. M. Bowman, the president of the M.T.N.A. who is of course acting in concert with Mr. Matthews in all matters pertaining to the Musical Congress. Since receiving your letter I have heard from Mr. Matthews to the effect that you were on for a paper, and feel certain therefore that you need have no doubt that the paper to which Mr. Matthews and myself referred are one and the same.
