My dear Miss Fletcher:

The movement here in my behalf has taken the shape of a move toward getting me a permanent Government appointment in the Smithsonian, Bureau of Ethnology or wherever the right place is. Do you see any serious objection to this? There are not so many places open that I am likely to be able to choose. A Washington appointment would bring me into daily association with you & enable us to co-operate. Have you any suggestions to make as to the proper kind of an appointment to be sought? The attempt will be made through our local senators & Congressmen. Please let me have your views as soon as convenient. Regards to Miss Gay, Miss Mead, the Putnams & the rest.

Yours as ever
