Miss Alice C. Fletcher,

My dear friend, our friend was in and I questioned him closely and I find that starting out of the lodge, the priest and his mate are in the lead with the sticks and the chief with the cat and other things, the whole party behind - following - They stand in front of the lodge and sing a Son to
Tira-wa - for all things come from Him and prayerful hearts they sings to him for blessing upon the party and that he would conduct the priests' stips correctly in following up the ceremony. They then take 16 steps ^East^ When they wheel ^and face West = partly behind^ and are reminded that Tira-wa gave permission to the 4 Gods in the West to give live [[strike-through]] and [/strikethrough]] ^to the^ Human family, and as they also represent Thundering Lighting and storm - their song must be sung so they may hold the storms while ceremony is carried on - 16 steps west - 16 steps towards south then again they wheel for here they are reminded of the sun, and the half of the earth which is fruitful and songs must be sung to them that Tirawa might help & assist these Gods to [[strike-through]] send [/strikethrough]] ^give &^ bless the people by increase in familys - as well as the seeds= The party then starts towards the entrance of the lodge stepping 8 times & 8 times more to the north there they face north and sing songs
