My dear Friend: –
     I want to thank you – It was superb. You have inspired them [[underline]]all[[/underline]] with the desire to see the Exposition, and some of them will accomplish it. But that was not the value of your talk to them – Indeed that was not why I so much wanted them to have the evening with you – It is never what you say or what you do that blesses us, [[misc?]] as are the sayings, noble as are the doings – It is what you [[underline]]are[[/underline]] that put something into our lives that was not there before – It is the light that lives in your dear face, the love that deepens and punctuates your voice, the soul that lives and [[?]] itself in what you [[underline]]are[[/underline]] that is like a re-birth to all we want to do and be – I have tried so many times to say this to you, [[?]] now, that no matter how far short I fail, in your large charity you will count me sincere, and will respect the confidence I [[underline]]try[[/underline]] to utter
