My Dear Miss Fletcher:

Your note of August 3 is just at hand, and I hasten to congratulate you on your safe return from a long journey and on the gratifying experiences you have enjoyed.

The Twenty-first Report containing your monograph was sent to the Public Printer on March 12, 1902, but proofs are not yet in. They may be expected within a fortnight ^[[and here is a handwritten note]];but[[/and here is a handwritten note]](as I think you know)[[strikethrough]]. S[[/strikethrough]]o large a body as the Public Printing Office sometimes moves slowly[[strikethrough]],[[/strikethrough]] [[underlined]]a[[/underlined]]ccordingly, I shall be glad to have you advise me of address in case unexpected delay should arise in connection with the proofs.

Your vouchers have been approved and sent forward for payment, and a check for $500 ought to reach you within a week; though in this case, also, there may possibly be delay growing out of the absence of Secretary Langley from the country and the ill-health and absence from the city of Assistant Secretary Rathbun. I wish that the check might have been multiplied by 2 or 4.

It is my understanding that you and Dr Dorsey came into full accord as to future work among the Pawnee ; but I do not certainly know whether you will desire ^[[and here is a handwritten note]],[[/and here is a handwritten note]] pursuant to that arrangement^[[and here is a handwritten note]],[[/and here is a handwritten note]] to re-visit the [[underlined]]t[[/underlined]]erritory on you way east. If so, you are at liberty to count on the requisite financial support from the Bureau.
