Yet America will never settle down to [[underlined]] read "Odes". [[/underlined]] She will read a story like 'Hiawatha' [[?]], or 'Evangeline' - or "Lucile" - but she won't have poems such as even Wm Vaughn Moody made (with his great literary power) out of bygone glories. - echoing Milton, . . . & the Apocalypse.

So, unless the Red Indian is to remain "scraps" "sketches" "short stories" - if he is to be rescued from burial in learned reports - & truly sing us alive & devout & grateful - I think some organizing [[double underlined]] plot [[/double underlined]] must be chosen - if possible [[underlined]] mythological [[/underlined]] - and of such a kind as to absorb all the Redman's lore & life,.
