My dear Miss Fletcher
I wouldn't for the world have my hoped for drop into Washington trouble your mind & interfere with your plans. We shall be here till September the 20 When we go to Crow's Nest, Berryville, Ca for a while. My movements there are a little uncertain as I may have to [[???]] up to Boston to see a possible assistant minister. I hear Washington is so crowded that one can't get into a hotel-- while it was not very encouraging. I am not very confident of seeing you or Mr La Flèche in New York-- to judge by our bad luck last time Ours is a set where no one seems to have any time for anything that's worth while. The visitor has everything to see or to seige, & the poor bewildered [[???]] has a schedule of futilities to observe. So, in derring- I am not as hopeful as I wish I were!
