Mr Howe & I considered it useless to visit Phila after my long talk with Col. Pratt as there was but one course [[strikethrough]] to be pursued & that is the girls [[/strikethrough]] open, namely to [[strikethrough]] need be [[/strikethrough]] return the girls to Carlisle - without delay.

[[strikethrough]] In I shall be most happy to serve you with in connection with these children, or in any other way, and at any time.  And I shall be glad to know your views on the course taken by Mr Howe & me.  [[/strikethrough]]

Capt. Pratt [[strikethrough]] my d [[/strikethrough]] invited Mr Howe to attend the [[?current]] exercises at Carlisle on the 5 & 6 of Feb.  As the [[?]] of Ed for Pat Rice will be present, this will be an opportunity for consultation with him.  I shall to to Carlisle if possible at that [[?time]] for this reason.

I hope you will approve of the [[strikethrough]] action taken [[/strikethrough]] course Mr H. & I have taken in this matter, and if I can serve you in any way, or at any time, with the Porto Rican girls, or in any other matter, I shall be very glad to do so.
