In the Field
July 27 9

My dear Mr Monteith
Thanks for the blanks Report Employees, rec'd yesterday eve.

It has been very hot every where I think the thermometer has risen to 96 to 102, for nearly two weeks, making it rather hard to work in the field

Allotments are going on finely, as far as interest and rewards are concerned. The talk with the people on this rule seems to have made its requirements plain. The fields at Kamia cut up the legal subdivisions continually, but I shall be able to give each man his little patch, as the land allows. The section of the land will be taken [[else where?]].

My greeting to Mrs Monteith in which others may join. She has taken some interesting pictures of her [[sitings?]].

Yours truly
