Sir:
Your letter of July 29th and the copy of your letter to Mr Edson D. Briggs under same date reached me Saturday. I am very glad that the new survey has been ordered and that it is to be done by so competent a man as Mr Briggs. My allotment work has been delayed as a large number of Indians are on unsurveyed land.

May I call your attention to your instructions to Mr Briggs, and also to some of the peculiar conditions here, and ask for certain modifications of your orders.
