Let me now speak of my affairs: As yet I have not been to London. I must go there & see some things and some people. And I must go to Cambridge to see some people there and to Oxford.

I cannot go to Italy now on account of cholera and too it is not safe for me to travel all alone. I have thought of staying over here thro the winter so as to go to Italy, Greece and Egypt. I can find company later. There is nothing to take me home if Mrs. Cushing goes to California. I think Dora would be willing to take care of the house. In that event I would not return to
America until the Spring.

Today a letter came from Mrs C. in which she writes indefinitely
as to the date of her going to California. She may not go until
December or January. She is going. It seems a pity for me to lose this chance of seeing these countries that are so needful
for me to see in reference to my study, Greece & Egypt particularly.
