Yours of Jan'y 31 came last evening by this time you know of the delay of the language material, its safe arrival here, etc.

I am very sorry about the Lichners of S.C. & earnestly hope he will soon be well and all things prosper with you. I am anxious about the drought. It certainly is very hard. We have had a dry winter here, no snow to speak of since the heavy snow in Dec. It is like Spring here & I think signs point to an early spring.

I have reread Warfare and am now rereading "Societies."

What was the meaning of the grass worn at the back of the He-thushka members? There must have been a meaning. Can you tell me? I would
