Home Sunday March 26, 1911 My dear Francis Last evening the Literary Soc'y was here, and Gen'l Greely & Dr. Smith both had papers, Gen'l G. on the early Arctic discoverers, and Dr. Smith on Confucius. There were not as many here as I expected Several were sick, some called out of town and even some of my invited guests who had accepted failed to appear, but we had about 50 & every one was greatly pleased. No music, for I could not arrange for any, and so gave it up, but — the supper was fine. Dora did wonders & we had the best chicken salad I ever tasted fine ice-cream & the punch was of the finest Every one was delighted Mr. Calin sent flowers he could not come.
