Mr. Heald who placed the load neglected to transfer the mortgage from his name to mine. So the mortgage has to be sent to Europe for him to sign relinquish it. It will take a month to close it up, meanwhile everybody is put to expense. If M. Heald had died I would have had to bring a suit in equity to get my money back. It is fortunate that it has been discovered while I live & he lives.

It has turned suddenly hot and I am very tired.

Mr. Hodge has just sent me Mr. Cadman's letter to him asking to use some of the Waxobe songs but I doubt if Mr. H will allow any of your material to be used by anyone before it is published. I suppose Mr Cadman will be disappointed if Mr. H refuses, but he need not lose courage the songs will be just as good in the future as now. You say there are 60 songs, & then you speak of "six songs" & again of "the seven songs". I must await your account in order to understand just what the "six songs" & the "seven songs" mean.

You say the tattooing ceremony has no songs but rituals. Are these intoned? —
