V What of the 7 pipes? [[strikethrough]] Who [[/strikethrough]] Which group had [[strikethrough]] these [[/strikethrough]] pipes? Were the 7 pipes in the control of any one group? Was there any pipe or pipes that stood for the tribe?

The Osage, as far as I am at present informed is composed of 5 groups — 3 form the Honga side, 2, the Tsi-zhu. The 3 groups that form the Honga side, are composed of the Honga Utanatsi, — Honga, —Wa-zha-zhi — [[strikethrough]] and [[/strikethrough]] There three change places in reference to each other but are always opposite the Tsi-zhu or on the south side where the opening of the huthuga is to the East. Of these 3, the Honga and the Wa-zha-zhi have each 7 sub-gentes — while the Honga Utanatsi has no sub-division. Can you get these sub-gentes, and get their relative position to each other, as for instance, in the Honga, which sub-gens has its place at the East of the line, which next, & so on to the 7th sub-gens. Get also the same for the Wa-zha-zhi sub-gentes. (We tried, but each one who gave them gave them a little differently. We can put all our informants accounts to gether & note the agreements.) Then get the Tsi-zhu side the same way. When you can thus diagram the groups, then we can better understand & get at the reason, perhaps of the relationship mentioned in II.
