I have not done any thing definite about the vacation. I do not know Mrs C's plans, & there are some things that must be done in the house. The hall paper must be taken off & a new one put on. That is a hard tedious & I fear expensive job, but the present paper is too shabby. Then I must give one coat of paint to the woodwork. The stairs must be attended to. I have contracted for that work, but not for the paper. The papering I want done before you come home.

Mrs Nuttall is in Baltimore & arrives in Washington tomorrow. I have engaged a room & bath for her at the Driscoll. I could not have her here there is no place but your room, & that would not serve her very well. She will dine here etc. & I will do my best.

I am sending you an article which gives you a history of the translations of the Bible. This year, the tercentenary is being celebrated. You will find the article instructive & it will tell you things you ought to know.

Is there anything among the Osage that stands for the tribe as a unite? What constitutes the tribe? Do they use the term "Ukete", that used by the Omaha to mean tribe?

Goodbye. How is your arm?. How long did Mr. C. stay?.
